Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 2:31 AM EDT Oct. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch in effect from 2 PM EDT this afternoon through
Tuesday morning...

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has expanded the

* Flood Watch to include portions of southwest Michigan and west
central Michigan, including the following areas, in southwest
Michigan, Allegan, Ottawa, and Van Buren. In west central
Michigan, Lake, Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo, and Oceana.

* From this afternoon through Tuesday morning

* widespread 1 to 3 precipitation amounts, some areas over 5
inches.

* Much of the watch area recently received significant rain. This
much additional rain over a large area would quickly turn to
runoff that would overwhelm some local drainage systems.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
