A little about my self -

I joined weather Underground in August of 2005 right after they opened the blogging feature. I have been a weather hobbyist since the middle 60's when I lived on the west coast of Florida, north of the Tampa Bay area. I currently live in a small community in central Illinois.

I have been through numerous Hurricanes during my life time. The worse being Hurricane Camille in August 17,1969, A Cat 5, where the eye passed over the location I was at. That being Biloxi, Ms when I was in the USAF stationed at Keesler AFB.

Whitewabit
There is a significance and meaning behind seeing a white rabbit anywhere. They are portents of the possibility of spiritual enlightenment and/or an encounter with the Divine.
White rabbits seem to be metaphors that signify an invitation to step out of ordinary time. You have been chosen; it is not necessary to know or to ponder why. They call us out from our ordinary life to go on an extraordinary journey which will lead us to an experience which will transform us in some very significant way.
The white rabbit is an invitation. It never coerces but gently compels us to let go of what we think is important to explore what is of ultimate importance. It is an invitation to enter into the realm of the real, hidden, intuitive, unconscious world that exists underneath what appears to be reality. The unlikely pilgrim will be taken to places that s/he never dreamed possible and the passage will cost more than what most are willing to freely give.
If you happen upon a white rabbit, remain awake and alert to the direction you must go and be ready to let go of everything you believed was important. Or...you can continue what you were doing and ignore the invitation. The choice is entirely up to you.

Bradford pears are just ready to pop 2/27 in College Park. Don't know if they'll be blooming yet so I can exclaim "they bloomed in February"

Significant severe weather threat here in DC March 1! Looks worse than Saturday and Saturday produced ground covering hail and an F1 twister about 35 miles south of me.

Winter? What winter? Not down here, barring those two short freezed we had. It was 82F Saturday afternoon, according to my outdoor thermometer on the front stoop. It's out of the sun, so that wasn't it. It was just danged HOT!

I went out Saturday to look for a new floor fan for the living room, the oscillating kind on a stand. The one we have in there is acting wonky.

No one has them ordered in yet. I kind of wondered if I was a fool's errand but who'd a thunk you'd need one in February?

Good morning Wabit.
It's really hard for the young people to get started now, the price of housing is sky high.
The grand daughter took some furniture with her and now the living room has an echo. I miss the little girls.
Have a good day.

Actually one of my (not validated but sounds good) weather lore-isms is

"It's bad luck to get a sunburn planting tomatoes" It implies that the last sun and warmth you'll see for a month.

You're now at a balmy 53F.

Am watching the albatrosses on Kaui with one eye and have one eye on WU. They are so ungainly on land and graceful in the air. Much like penguins are clumsy on land and graceful in the water.

The Winter Storm Watch for western Iowa is sadness that winter is returning.

I noticed the sedums in the flower garden were starting to grow. I might have to covered them up again with the fallen leaves.

just looked and they have taken the snow out of our forecast and has it being all rain .. but with a low near 30º we might get a dusting .. but our temps are suppose to be too warm ..

This has and still is a very unusual winter here in the Midwest .. all the snow has gone to the north up by you .. or storms in the deep south ..

was 73 and sunny but has clouded up and cooled off a few degrees as its down to 67º now ..

Bug all the flowers here are popping up .. might not be any May flowers this year ..

George .. dry here too .. has been windy which pulls the moisture from the ground more then normal too ..

Skye .. won't be picking anything here for months yet .. worried about my fruit trees .. they are starting to bud and if we get a hard freeze now .. we won't have any fruit again this year .. will be the 3rd year in a row where my apples and pears have done poorly due to early budding and a late frost ..

A picture of my maryland spinach is in Skye's comment section. I didn't notice right away but the ground is dry and cracked around it, very unusual for February. I've had illness in the family and this is a rental garden in winter so I've not gotten out much to tend it and you can see the winter annuals are just bursting out.
