The new owners of WU have deleted our WU Photos. Is now deleting our blogs, yet wants us to give data from our weather stations to them for free.

Pull your station. No community. No free data.

Can't go quietly now can I?

Sweeet! Paths crossed already :-) Shoot, sorry about mom, 'toughness and resilience' is what we want and good to hear she is faring well. There are priorities, blogs are not it for now, mom is.
I sure hope we see you on the Ark - it could use some randomness (and swirlies!)

I am so sorry your mom is going through this!! I wish her the best! I certainly don't blame you for not being social during this time, I would not be good company either if I was going through it.

You might really like The Ark as GG says. It is private also so no trolls to interfere, and has the clean lines of WU. Though leave it to me to press the wrong button and my first blog there seemed to be in Greek, LOL! Oh well, I did get it fixed so now in English, LOL! So please bookmark the link GG gave you so when you are feeling more social you can come over and visit:))

Hi GC!

Yeah, WU has been a special place for socially inclined introverts. A place to chat with intelligent people whilst not feeling like the life is being sucked out of you as in some face to face situations and most groups. Then again I think most WU people aren't really energy vampires.

It truly sucks having your Mom go through her fight and then having to be so hair pullingly
gracious to everyone. Sorry you both are going through that. Understand why you haven't had the energy for one more thing. Nice to know I have been occasionally keeping you company as you and many other WU folk have often been with me in my head when I'm out and about and see something one of you would like.

SQUIRREL!

Okay, forty minutes later, back. There were Cedar Waxwings in my Yapon Holly eating berries. Scared them off and had to sit quietly for awhile. Got some good shots.

Yes, this is a big positive part of the world shutting down. Hope to find other introvert friendly venues. Perhaps you will go to Yleesfake twitter feed blog and look at some of the alternatives. This one looks the most promising. Rob from the Ark put together an entire web site (how cool is that!?) for WU people. It is brand spankin new so a work in progress. Hope you stop by once in awhile. Will definitely miss you. Ark2 for WU

Anyhow, sending you WU mail if it still works.

It is warm. The windows are open. Evenings, my house fills with the scent of citrus blossoms. I get cold.
One morning last week the fog rolled in and formed a lovely visual backdrop to the palms down the street and the new leaves on the sycamore tree. It looked almost exactly like one of the first photos I posted on WU, which I titled “March of the Palms”. Different, though, in that one of the palms has since died and been removed, and the sycamore is much taller. Things do change.
No California poppies have been spotted, yet, but lots of other early spring flowers. The hills are so green.

My mom was diagnosed with cancer in January. It has been a whirlwind of activity and worry. One long stint in the hospital and a drug adjustment and she's currently doing well. As usual, my mom amazes everyone with her toughness and resilience.
My social energy meter red-lined weeks ago and I don't think there's any hope of recovery for that anytime soon. So. Many. PEOPLE. So many people involved in her care, wonderful people, too many people. Plus all the family and friends who need their own personal account of all that's happening on a regular basis. It all wears this introvert out quick and leaves me with no ability for friendliness or even politeness, I'm sorry to say. Be glad I haven't been here!
Luckily, I have friends who know my hermit ways and they help build me back up and keep me going so I can help keep mom going.

I don't know what to say about the blogs closing down. Being around less and less often does not mean that I don't care about the people here and the community that was built around weather, of all things. It really just means that I've topped out on social interaction too often in recent years, and constantly in recent months.
I have a long list of things I wanted to share with specific people, or just generally, and new stuff comes up all the time … Oh, I need to send that to gg … WTS would like that! … and, well, you all know what I mean. It stinks that that's all stuck in my head with no place to go, now, LOL

I miss WUblogging and will miss it more when it isn't there anymore. I learned a lot about weather here and saw much of the world that I would otherwise not. Being connected to so many good folks, even virtually, has enhanced my life in many ways and I appreciate every one of you, whether we ever “spoke”, or not.

I was going to wumail folks with an email address to keep in touch but maybe that's not a good idea. Let me know if you want it. BFOTR and a couple of other people have/had an address for me. I'm not going to join the photo group or facebook, obviously, since I don't do those things, but I know where you are ;)
I was also going to leave a message for each of my long-time friends here but that's not happening, either. You know what I hate? I hate the phrase “I was going to”. Do it or don't is what I say … ah, well.

This is disjointed because I've been writing it for awhile. Not enough time left and I can't say nothing so I will say this:
I've been bouncing around the internets for over 25 years and WU has been unique and unusual in my experience. I am grateful for the time we've had together on WU and will always remember. Thanks to everyone – friends here, friends gone, TPTB, the writers and the lurkers - for making this such a special place.

Seewu :)

Hi SP! I thought I would tell you in case you came out this way that the Hungarian store has finally closed it's doors:(( They had been for sale for 8 years and thought they had a buyer a Hungarian man. He was suppose to take over on a certain date, but has not been seen or heard from so they closed their doors. They will be missed, I guess when I want some Kolacs I will have to resort to making it myself:))

Happy New Year, sp!

One of the local farmers here is advertising for old Christmas trees in stead of turning them in for shredding/recycling so he can feed his goats! Seems much better than the goat drop they do in Halifax ;-) OK, they are stuffed toy goats, but still..

I'm okay otherwise. Got enough mojo for this because I happened to remember this year:
