Spring is around the corner!

Feb 10, 2017:

Good morning everyone. Finally got around to setting up a new blog thread.
So far this winter has been a good one down here in SE Fla. Only a few cold fronts actually pushed all the way down this way which is great. And the ones that made it only one so far as really brought us cooler temps for a few days. But I see other areas are not fairing as well and getting blasted with winter storms. Stay safe!

I will add photos as I get them.

Now for the Maps:

Feb 16 2017 my front walk way to door has several corn plants in bloom now. they smell so good, I love it some folks thinks the fragrance is a little too strong but not me. smells sort of like a gardenia plant in bloom.

Bleeding Heart Vine (seflagamma)
Feb 15 2017 the bleeding heart vine is in full bloom on fence in east side gardens. It pretty much blooms all year round and requires a lot of pruning to keep it from taking over.

Feb 15 2017 another different orchid in a different spot in bloom again. A very pretty one. I am lucky to get to enjoy this beauty year round.

Feb 15, 2017, two different orchids are blooming at the same time in the same pot. Many are blooming right now, but have had some blooming pretty consistently. They seem to bloom here 2 or 3 times a year.

Feb 17 2017: the corn plant blooms I posted the other day were not in "full" bloom yet so I got a picture of what those white fragrant blooms look like.

Feb 18 2017. Grandson Nolan. He is now on a travel team for ages 6-8. He just turn 7 in Dec. They are a very young & new team in this league & way not there yet but give them time. Lately he is playing catcher and he loves it .. I think mostly because of all the cool gear catchers get to wear. We try to attend when we can. Here he took his face mask off. Notice he finally lost that tooth that has been loose over a week.

Thank you Bug, Ylee, Sandi, StormDrain, and lurkers.

I know I am destroying history, but a lot of "stuff" was said on some of those earlier blogs, plus it is just time. I think Finn "Lissu" kept a lot of hers.
But I am now up to May 2007. I am finding old photos that were only on my old blogs, the originals were lost on the previous computer that got a virus & had to be replace and could not get anything off it.
So many memories I am finding.
For sure Rylee, as our first WUBA baby, she and her pictures grew up on my old blogs. Also a lot of fishing trips and WU get togethers and a lot of fun family times. So glad I am being forced to go get those old photos, copy them to my desk top then put them in my photo folder that is in a year, month event order so they can be found.
Then I need to remember to back up my computer again to update all the new photos.

It may take me another month to get those old photos, but eventually I will get to the point where I do have most of the pictures already filed.

beautiful weather down here today, I think it is a stay at home day so I hope to get some yard work done.

Enjoy your week!

Hi Gamms,
Looking through the photos up top, I did a double-take thinking Rylee was playing catcher - and it's Nolan! They sure resemble one another. Best wishes to both of them in their sports programs.

Love your blooms, especially the orchids. Glad your hubby is doing so well post-op.

Over the years, I've gone into your archives and had some enjoyable reads in your oldest blogs. "The way we were." Yep, you know, as you describe. I understand the deletion. I've deleted blogs every so often over the years. Wouldn't surprise me if whole blogs laden with graphics in the comments and headers disappear, or at least lose the graphics as the wu changes march on.

Take care.

I have saved all the photos I want - most of mine were in Flcikr as well as here.
But I agree with Ylee - why delete your blogs? We have no idea whether the photos in them will show or not after June...but the words will still be there :) If you are one of the folk who has kept all the early blogs, deleting them will be like tearing up old diaries.

I am sure hubby is trying to run before he can walk... hope it doesn't hinder the "inner" healing.

How come you are deleting your blogs? All the pics and text that's been on your blogs could fit on a memory stick! You ain't doin' IBM no favors! :' )

Hope everyone is doing well!

When I watched the Weather Channel this morning before work, I knew you were getting some heavy weather coming in.

Congrats to Rylee and Nolan. Glad they're doing well in sports!

Taking the hulk into dry dock and getting the barnacles scraped today, Gams? I need to set up my appt for that.

Oh my goodness, I just spent over an hour going into archives to my original Dec 2005 "party blogs" and saving a picture or two & deleting all the threads. I probably had 15 blogs just in Dec 2005 with thousands of comments on them. Same in January 2006 with a lot more pictures I had to save, and probably over 30 blog threads to delete. I totally forgot how popular my blogs were, especially the "party blogs" back in the early days of WU!

It is going to take me forever to get the pictures saved & delete all the blogs one at a time. Wish there was some way I could do the entire month of blogs at once after I save any photos I need to save. Amazing, I had so much time to blog back then, but it was also so new to most of us and we were still feeling our way around in the fascination of meeting new friends from all over the world and just the fun it was chatting aka blogging with each other.

So many fun memories, but it is time to go back and delete those blogs. I know now, even if deleted once on the internet always will be, but at least will not be as easy to see. Plus should free up a lot of space here for WU! I know 2006 will be just as many posts every month, we had all those spring break parties there in those days. Remember we had the morning group, the afternoon or early evening group, then the all night people who did not sleep until the wee hours of the morning that kept those blogs going.

Hope your day is going well. I have a dermatologist appointment at noon . been very bad & have not gone recently so it is time. Plus we have storms coming our way and I hope to get back home before they get too bad.

Rylee was one of only 2 players on her soccer team selected for the All Star Girls Soccer game tonight. She is the smallest & youngest on this team but the best player on the team. She has moves and is so fast & furious. But their game tonight has already been cancelled because of the weather coming in.
She was scouted for a girls travel soccer team, so that will be cranking up soon. She will no longer be able to play for the Parks & Rec teams once you are on a travel team.
Nolan and his travel team are cranking up, but they are losing all their games so far. But it is the newest & youngest team in that league so they have to learn & get more experience, it may take awhile. LOL

You all have a great day!

LOL Ylee, you are so right, but I was posting this comment and I am a ST Louis Cardinal fan, not a NY Yankee fan! LOL notice the ones I posted were in the top 5 of Cardinal catchers.

Gamma, I'm sure your hubby would rather have Nolan be the next Yogi Berra, albeit a lot handsomer! :' )

Good Sunday morning everyone.
Bug thank you and Ylee, thanks... today hubby is getting to mow, edge & weedeat the lawn, we only have a small front lawn, and use blower for back. He is in heaven. it has been 3 weeks since his surgery I think, but nearly a month, maybe 4 weeks tomorrow. He is doing great and feeling so much better than before the surgery.
He knows he cannot push it... but I think he picks and chooses what he wants to do...if he wants to do a job, he will do it, if it is a heavy job I need him to do (like taking a large heavy plant out of pot & putting it in ground) not so much, he wants to wait until his 6 week check up for that LOL

and this morning we were up early, caught one of Grandson Nolan's Sunrise Sharks baseball travel team games. His team is new to this, very young and this is much harder than when his team use to rock first place every year in the parks & rec leagues. This is the real thing. He plays in the youngest group, the 6, 7 & 8 yr oldes, his team is mostly 6 & 7 yr olds who never played travel before.. they are losing every game which is rough for a team that always came in first in T ball years... but they will get there with a little more experience.

anyway, he has become the team's catcher. he has a great arm & glove. and he loves playing catcher because I think he loves wearing all the gear catchers need to wear. posted 2 pictures of him from this morning.

Then went to see hubby's mom at nursing home... later grilling steaks & shrimp for dinner.

Ylee, maybe if Nolan continues as a catcher we may have another Tim McCarver or Yadier Molina in the dug out!
You all have a great day.

Another season, another Tommy John surgery. :( Don't know if they try to do too much, too soon, or what, but it seems like someone goes down every year.

If your hubby is overdoing it, he'll find out soon enough. He probably won't tell you he did, though.

Glad to hear that Poppy is coming along. Men always overdo and we have to hold them down, sometimes. Have you tried duct tape? My aunt says it works wonders on keeping my uncle from over-doing!

WOW..I've never, ever seen a corn plant bloom. I had no idea that they even did that!

Your orchids are lovely, as always.

Good morning Ylee, Bug, Sandi! Thanks for stopping by.
We don't really "celebrate" Valentine's day around here. Just a nice card to each other. Stacey worked all day & made him his chicken Chili he ask for. Got some work done around the house.

Yes, it is baseball training time and here in South Florida we have places they all come all over the place, especially a little north of me.

I took some pictures of some of my garden flowers so will load them up when I can. Our winter has been very good so far. The cold fronts have not been too bad; only one had us in the 50's - 60's for a few days but compared to the rest of the country, not bad at all.

Hubby is getting better & better every day, even the groin pain is improving every day which his doctor said would happen. But I think it is working way too much for his 2nd week at work. He should have cut back on some of his appointments at least the first few weeks of returning. He is back on the elliptical, not as strong as before but more so than I figured he would be allowed.
I am trying to get the house in order, and accomplish some of the inside projects that have been put on the back burner for a while; and trying to keep up with the gardens. Been enjoying fresh vine ripe tomatoes and that is always a plus. Plus broccoli and green onions. and of course all the herbs I grow & cook with. Ellen & Rylee stopped by the other day for some herbs she needed for her main dinner dish that night.

Hope your week has been going well. Take care and again, Thanks!

Morning!

I am glad you didn't come to visit me this winter... it has been grey and cold and damp. For weeks on end it never picked up above 40... and would drop to the 20's overnight! I can't wait for spring. Like you I prefer to be warm not cold!!

Take care :)

Happy Valentine's Day, Gams!

How are you and Poppy doing? I know it's been a rough year or two, with his dad and mom's health issues and his Dad's passing.

How's Poppy healing up after his hip surgery?

Good morning Bug, yes you are First! On the ball this morning! LOL

well that "cold" front that passed thru us last night was not as cool as expected, brought down temps around 10 degrees for highs only in upper 70s instead of upper 80s. And lows in the mid 60s. And it did bring us beautiful sunny skies this morning.
So far this has been a great winter for us down here in SE Fla. Only a few cool spells, but nothing below 50 for lows that low 50s only happened I think a few times that we turned on heater at night. Only a couple of days a few weeks ago that we did not reach 70 for high temp, that was also very short lived.
As I love warm weather and hate cold/cool, this winter is making me a happy camper!

How're ya doing, Gams?
