I just read that Weather Underground is going to discontinue these blogs, as of April 3. But don't worry, I have a Livejournal blog in the same name, steve98052. If I have more to write about my weather station, I'll write it on Livejournal with a "weather" tag.

Fear not!

This station isn't dead. But my router seems to be dead or close to it, so I can't update except by tethering through my phone. That's not a very satisfactory solution, since it means the station goes down any time I switch tethering off or leave the close vicinity of my computer. However, my ISP said they were sending me a new router soon (at no cost -- woohoo!), so the station should be back in normal operation soon.

My weather station stopped reporting around 7 pm on June 24, worked a little bit on on the 25th and 26th, and then quit completely.

I don't know what was wrong, except that FreeWX-Wi kept quitting with a cryptic error message. Software does that sometimes.

Anyway, a few minutes ago Windows decided it needed to be rebooted, and when the reboot completed FreeWX-Wi was suddenly functioning once again.

Based on the nearest station that w...
