The photo below is of a Sundog, photographed by me on 1-1-2017

WOW! Look what I just found in the VIP section of the WU gallery! Yes, there are the two Sundogs but what is the rest? I think this is a spectacular photo!

Well, I've been unable to post the photo here but you can see it below in post #11

Good morning. We have a lovely sunny day but cold. Many of the spring flowers are in bloom and it would be wonderful if I could share them with you by posting them in the gallery. Oh well! I am going to try to have a calm day and I hope you have a wonderful joyous day!

Sandi, really? THE IBM bought WU?! I had no idea. The company IBM never came to mind, I thought the letters were some person's initials! Wow! And yes, for the first time I notice the disclaimer above this comment box! At the moment I am speechless!

Hi Bug! I'll check the mail but as of this morning there was no email listed for me.

I am curious, did you post this or did the WU administration? "The views of the author are his/her own and do not necessarily represent the position of The Weather Company or its parent, IBM." I have no idea who IBM is.

You posted this on my blog..... We all have it at the bottom of our blog headers. lol
IBM is a multi-national computer company that bought out WU!

It caused several headaches for a few days when it arrived on our blogs.

Like Ylee - I will not move to FB. If the worst comes and WU closes completely, I will keep up with all the Flickrites on Flickr, Ylee and Linda on WP, and the rest by personal mails!

Good morning! All is well! A few days ago we were in the 20s, yesterday we has a light jacket day, and this morning I got up to a 60 degrees weather! Mother Earth, the birds, and I are confused! I am enjoying the tiny buds on some trees and shrubs and of course the early Spring flowers such as Snowdrops.... I hope you all are well too.

Bug, I sent you an email many days ago, I have a feeling that you have not received it yet! WU is not at its best right now!

I am so happy that many of you shifted to facebook for a little chat and to flickr to show our photos. If you have gone to either one, please let me know and I will follow you on facebook and on flickr. Thank you.

By the way, facebook has 'private' photo groups for those who want to post photos there! I belong to three photo groups on facebook and I would be glad to sponsor you to those groups. :)

PS - We must preserve our 'Freedom of Speech'! Just a personal thought!

Sandi, it is fun! If I lived near you, I would make sure that you had at least one celebration!
I realized that today is Super Bowl day and of course my son and his wife will want to watch the game. I figured that he forgot when he chose tonight for my b'day and so I called him and suggested we have dinner next week (same restaurant), poor guy, he was relieved. He did not want to call to cancel but.... Anyways, I saved the day .... So I have two more celebrations to come, next week and one at a later month with friends....

Good morning! Yes Sandi, all is well. Still celebrating m b'day with dinner tonight, son is treating.
Hi GG, you said it beautifully "Such a gift it is too that after all these years, the same person remembers you." Sometimes I forget my blessings!
Hi Ylee, happy February to you as well!
Hi WW, what a great February card that you made! I bet your students loved to see your drawings and creativity in the classroom!

Downloading the AC photos from the WU gallery is a humungus job! I will not even try downloading the rest of over two thousand photos! Sad! I know a WU person who is actually paying someone to download and save her photos from WU. I must admit that I am not happy with the disregard and callousness of these 'events'. Oh well, it is their business and they can do what they want but.... I am in contact with lots of WU photographers on another site, we have a new page for just us WU expatriates! Katy in Alaska, if you see this and want to join us, please get in touch with me and I will add your name to the list. Lots of people there who have said that they would love to have you post your beautiful photos on that site! Thanks. Any other WU photographer who is interested?

Bug, how are you?

Happy Sunday everyone!

Ylee, if I actually had a cake with the number of candles to equal my age, indeed, the Fire Department would be called! Lol, I love your card! And thank you for thinking of me.

GG, thank you. It was a nice day. Hubby worked hard to make me happy, took me out to dinner two nights ago and again last night, got me a toss pillow with a Bichon on it (adorable), and surprise of a Swarowski (misspelled I know) figurine. I've have been collecting them for a few years and he always gets one that means something to me. As I have said before, I have a love-hate relationship with the Squirrels in my yard and so he got me a Squirrel! I love it. My far away sent me flowers, I'll post a photo of them if I can. And I spent most of the day on the phone, everyone of my siblings and my two sons called and it was great chatting (one of my favorite activities).

Poppy, thank you for the wishes. And a very Happy Birthday to Mr. P.! Yes, great people were born in January! And in February, and in...... LOL!

Sandi, thank you for the beautiful greeting! I've always loved that little painting, I wonder who painted it and where it is now? Well, I do know part of the answer but I really do not have any idea about the second part of my comment! Thank you for being you Sandi! Did I read somewhere that you are almost finished with the book? Fantastic! Can't wait to see it in print! Best wishes!

Hi Mass, another lovely card from you. Thank you very much for the beautiful card and message. It is too bad that WU will soon eject us from the blogs and in doing so our group will disband. Sad! I've enjoyed the blogs, stories, photos, friendships,....

Again, thank you for making my day special. Sending love to you all. I hope your Sunday is a good one!

Hi {{{ Prose! }}}
Stopping by a day early to wish you a very

Sorry you're having such difficulty with
your computer. I think many are continuing
to be frustrated by periodic WU or computer
glitches. It's takes a kind of patience
that is slowly waning from me as well.

Nevertheless, hope all will be fixed by your
actual celebratory day! This may soon be
the last time we all get to post or share WU
birthday greetings, etc. How sad when WU's
photography section begins to come to an
untimely end on Feb. 28th and total elimination
near the end of June.

Hope you can retrieve and download all your
accumulated uploaded WU photos beforehand
and safely download into a pic file on your
computer or some other safe photo-site.!

Shirley, try putting out fruit/berries/mealworms in a separate feeder for the mockers. In another area of your yard from your other feeders. Barring that, you may have to take all your feeders down for a week or two and see if they move on.

I cut up apples that have gotten pushed to the back of the bin and have gotten kind of mealy. I'll throw out the last of the blueberries for them and blackberries, mainly if they're a little past what I'd like to eat. I don't know about bananas, strawberries, etc. you could try. I haven't tried oranges or other citrus.

I know it's early but it's possible they're pitching woo, which may explain why you're seeing so many. And it's too early yet for the bugs to be out.

Hi Pros, I am having a problem with the mockingbirds. Never before have the shown any interest in my feeders. The edible bird wreath attracted them to the backyard instead of hanging out by the street by the power lines and and big juniper trees. They are fighting and chasing every bird that comes to my feeder. Any ideas?

What happens to a democracy, if a majority of the electorate tunes out the political process?

Looks like we're about to find out, though I have a hard time thinking that it's a good idea.

If it wasn't for the comics and Dear Abby, I think I'd cancel my newspaper subscription for the duration. Hubby won't let me do it; he has to have his daily paper with his TV guide and sports.

Hi Pros, I am afraid I have been watching TV today. I too have had my head in the sand for perhaps the whole year but decided I should find out what is going on in the world. SO I have been watching real TV. Actually not real TV but C-Span has livestreamed without any dialogue or commentary or any advertisements. I enjoy seeing all of the dignitaries of present and past plus the pomp and circumstance. The parade still has not started so I figure I will miss most of that. I even watched some of the confirmation hearings this week. This is a bit unusual for me as I don't usually watch daytime tv that much other than explorer channel and PBS but not even that since I discovered Bird TV. I understand what you are saying though about not watching - did not know I was really going to do it.

Bug, I am with you all the way! But I really do not know how I am going to contain my mouth for four years! I have been holed up in the computer room (junk room actually) since this morning and I am still here. Hubby has watched every second of the charade, to my recollection this is the first time that he has sat in front of the tv for the whole spectacle! And as you know, it is my first time NOT watching!
I am the odd figure in a family of 'Republican party voters', which includes some of my sisters (probably all of them), one son and his wife, her family, our best friends,.... I am an Independent voter who looks at the issues and not the party! Unfortunately most vote strictly party regardless of the person running or the issues. I am the odd voter but I am proud of my record and my method of choosing who gets that one vote! Normally I do accept the voice of the majority and respect the office of the presidency and the person holding it. That is until this election! I cannot and will not support a person who blatantly demeans women, is arrogant as hell, etc etc. And I sense something that makes me worry about the future of this wonderful Nation. I was born and grew up during WWII in Europe, and I do know how things can go terribly wrong in a matter of a blink! Anyways, I feel sad that at the end of my life I am part of something that I perceive as dangerous and destructive for future generations. I pray to God that I am wrong! Pessimistic view, I know but my heart is heavy at the moment.
I am sorry if I have insulted anyone, not my intention. It is a bad day for me, that's all.

I refuse to watch You-Know-Who or any of his press conferences or the whoo-ha of the swearing in. I avoid the news like the plague and am just going to stick my head in the sand for the next four years. I hope it's only four. Thank heavens I don't Twitter. My blood pressure can't take it. I'd blow a gasket.

I am amusing myself by reading a book of poems titled "I Could Pee on This, and other poems by cats" by Francesco Marciuliano.

Here is one of my favorites 'Meow':

Meow
Meow meow meow
Meow meow
Meow meow MEOW!
Well?
Why aren't you laughing?
Sigh
I must have told the joke wrong
