Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 4:06 PM MDT Jun. 18, 2018 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
the big Wind River in Fremont County in central Wyoming...

* until 400 am MDT Wednesday.

* At 3 PM... the Wind River at DuBois was at 5.4 feet. Flood stage is
5 feet. The river is expected to crest near 5.5 feet this evening
before receding late tonight and Tuesday. At 5.5 feet, low land
flooding intensifies and becomes more widespread in and around
DuBois.

* At 3 PM... the Wind River at Crowheart was at 10.4 feet. Flood
stage is 10 feet. The river at this location is expected to crest
at 10.6 feet after midnight Monday night. At 10.5 feet water could
begin to severely impact Highway 26 northwest of Morton to the
Highway 26 bridge.

* At 3 PM... the Wind River at Riverton was at 8.3 feet. Flood stage
is 9 feet. The river is expected to reach flood stage around
midnight Monday night, and crest near 10 feet late Tuesday
afternoon. At 10 feet, extensive agricultural flooding downstream
of Riverton near the black bridge and Hidden Valley areas.

* until 130 am MDT Tuesday.

* At 130 PM MDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in Jackson
Hole was causing urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor
drainage areas will result in minor flooding. Up to two inches of
rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jackson, Moose, Moran Junction, Old Faithful, Grant Village, South
Entrance, Wilson, rafter j ranch, Teton Village, Kelly, Moran Bay,
Craig Pass, Fairy Falls, Phelps Lake, Rendezvous Peak, Lewis Lake,
Kepler Cascades, Heart Lake, South Arm of lake Yellowstone and
Leigh Lake.

Additional rainfall of one to two inches is expected over the area.
This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Absaroka Mountains, Cody foothills, Jackson Hole, Teton and
Gros ventre mountains, and Yellowstone National Park.

* Until midnight MDT tonight

* periods of moderate to heavy rain will occur today into this
evening, before subsiding late Monday night.

* Rainfall totals of 1 inch to 1.5 inches are forecast with
locally higher amounts possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
