... Heat advisory remains in effect from noon today to 7 PM EDT
this evening...

* maximum heat index... low 100s.

* Timing... maximum heat index between noon and 6pm.

* Impacts... increased risk of heat related stress and illnesses.
The Young, elderly, those without air conditioning, and those
conducting strenuous outdoor activities will be the most
susceptible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Limit or reschedule strenuous outdoor activities. Find shade and
stay hydrated. Check up on the elderly, sick and those without
air conditioning. Never leave kids or pets unattended... look
before you lock.

... A line of strong thunderstorms will affect eastern Meigs...
southwestern Washington... southeastern Gallia... southern Morgan...
southeastern Athens... Mason... northwestern Putnam... northwestern
Jackson and southwestern wood counties...

At 1031 am EDT, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located
along a line extending from 6 miles south of Chesterhill to near
Pomeroy to near Gallipolis. Movement was southeast at 35 mph.

Winds in excess of 35 mph are possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Parkersburg, Belpre, Point Pleasant, Gallipolis, Ripley, Pomeroy,
Racine, Coolville, Chesterhill, Forked Run State Park, Ravenswood,
New Haven, Eleanor, Buffalo, Mason, Washington, Tuppers Plains,
Lubeck, Middleport and Chester.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 136 and 153.
Route 50 in West Virginia between mile markers 1 and 5.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may
cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
