The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
southeastern Loudoun County in northern Virginia...
the city of Fairfax in northern Virginia...
Fairfax County in northern Virginia...
the city of Manassas Park in northern Virginia...
Prince William County in northern Virginia...
the city of Manassas in northern Virginia...

* until 745 PM EDT Sunday.

* At 116 PM EDT, stream gauges indicate flooding is still occurring
in low areas near streams. Two streams in particular are Broad Run
in Loudoun County and Cedar Run in Prince William County. Other
streams in the area are also experiencing flooding with several
Road closures. Additional rainfall in storms this afternoon could
worsen flooding in areas.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Centreville, Dale City, Reston, Annandale, Springfield, South
Riding, Fort Washington, Herndon, Fairfax, fort Hunt, Vienna,
Groveton, Falls Church, Huntington, Lowes Island, Brambleton,
Mantua, Fort Belvoir and Pimmit Hills.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Be extra cautious on secondary roads when
driving into low areas.

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for the District of Columbia and portions of
Maryland and Virginia, including the following areas, in
Maryland, Anne Arundel, Calvert, Carroll, central and southeast
Howard, central and southeast Montgomery, Charles, Frederick MD,
northern Baltimore, northwest Harford, northwest Howard,
northwest Montgomery, Prince Georges, southeast Harford,
southern Baltimore, and St. Marys. In Virginia, Arlington/Falls
Church/Alexandria, eastern Loudoun, Fairfax, King George,
Prince William/Manassas/Manassas Park, Spotsylvania, and
Stafford.

* Through midnight EDT tonight.

* Showers and thunderstorms will be likely this afternoon and
evening. There is potential for repetitive rounds of
precipitation. Combined with saturated ground and high stream
levels from saturday's rainfall, this precipitation could lead
to flash flooding.

* Urban areas, locations along small streams and creeks, and poor
drainage areas are most vulnerable to flash flooding.
