... Cold front will bring strong northwest winds on Thursday...

A cold front will result in very windy conditions across south
central Texas on Thursday. Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are expected
along the Rio Grande into portions of The Hill Country. These
wind speeds combined with cured winter grasses will result in
critical fire weather conditions near the Rio Grande and western
Hill Country and a Fire Weather Watch has been issued for
portions of the area. Farther east, wind gusts between 30 to 40
mph across the I-35 corridor are expected. A Wind Advisory will
likely be needed across most of south central Texas on Thursday.

Issued: 2:16 PM CST Dec. 11, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Fire Weather Watch in effect from Thursday morning through
Thursday evening for Val Verde, Kinney, Uvalde, Maverick, Zavala,
frio, and Dimmit counties... .

The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a
Fire Weather Watch, which is in effect from Thursday morning
through Thursday evening.

* Affected area... Val Verde, Kinney, Uvalde, Maverick, Zavala,
frio, and Dimmit counties.

* Wind... northwest 30 to 40 mph with gusts near 50 mph.

* Humidity... 20 to 30 percent.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible
red flag warnings.
