to 9 am CST Thursday...

* what... blowing snow expected. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

* Where... portions of central and north central South Dakota.

* When... from 9 PM this evening to 9 am CST Thursday.

* Additional details... patchy blowing snow could significantly
reduce visibility. The cold wind chills as low as 20 below
zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30
minutes, and will continue through Friday morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for blowing snow means that
visibilities will be limited due to strong winds blowing snow
around. Use caution when traveling, especially in open areas.
