Flood Warning
Issued: 11:30 AM EST Dec. 12, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Congaree River at Carolina Eastman.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 11 am Wednesday the stage was 121.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 115.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 121.3 feet early
this afternoon. The river is expected to gradually fall below
flood stage by Friday morning.
* At 119.0 feet... extensive flooding occurs in the Congaree National
Park. Some area farmland is flooded. Minor flooding occurs at the
Carolina Eastman facility.
* At 115.0 feet... flooding occurs in low lying areas of the Carolina
Eastman facility and at the Congaree National Park.

Flood Advisory

The flood advisory continues for
the Congaree River at Columbia.
* Until Thursday afternoon.
* At 11 am Wednesday the stage was 15.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue to gradually fall over the next
couple of days. The river is expected to fall below advisory
criteria by Saturday morning.
* Advisory stage is 10.0 feet.
* At 14.0 feet... roads in low lying areas and swampland downstream
from Columbia become flooded. Most of the Cayce and West Columbia
river walk is flooded.
* At 13.0 feet... flooding occurs in flood prone areas near and
downstream from Columbia. Flooding also occurs over much of the
Cayce and West Columbia river walk.
* At 10.0 feet... flooding occurs in flood prone areas near and
downstream from Columbia. Flooding also occurs on parts of the
Cayce and West Columbia river walk.
