Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 4:06 PM EDT Jul. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in State College PA has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
York County in south central Pennsylvania...

* until 700 PM EDT

* at 404 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to numerous
thunderstorms over central and Southern York County. These storms
are very slow-moving and could produce a very quick inch or two of
rain. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in the
advisory area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

The National Weather Service in State College has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of central Pennsylvania,
including the following areas, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin,
Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Montour, northern Lycoming,
Northumberland, Perry, Schuylkill, Snyder, southern Lycoming,
Sullivan, Union, and York.

* Through late tonight

* additional heavy rainfall from thunderstorms is expected to
develop this evening and last through the overnight hours. The
rain may be heavy enough to cause flash flooding... particularly
in areas which have seen heavy rain over the last day or two.
