Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 2:16 AM CDT Aug. 17, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a

* flood advisory for...
southern Madison County in northwestern Arkansas...
Franklin County in west central Arkansas...
Crawford County in northwestern Arkansas...
northern Sebastian County in west central Arkansas...
southern Washington County in northwestern Arkansas...
Sequoyah County in east central Oklahoma...
Adair County in northeastern Oklahoma...
southeastern Cherokee County in east central Oklahoma...

* until 715 am CDT

* at 213 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Widespread 1 to 2 inch rains are expected, with some locally
heavier amounts possible. Portions of the area that are fairly
saturated from recent rains will be monitored for a possible
upgrade to a Flash Flood Warning.

Interstate 40 in Arkansas between mile markers 0 and 42.
Interstate 40 in Oklahoma between mile markers 290 and 328.
Interstate 540 between mile markers 1 and 14.
Interstate 49 between mile markers 22 and 56.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
