... High surf advisory remains in effect until 1 am EST Friday...

* locations... beaches from Bogue Inlet to Ocracoke Island.

* Surf height... 8 to 12 feet.

* Timing... today into tonight.

* Impacts... large breaking waves of 8 to 12 feet will result in
dangerous surf conditions. Do not enter or approach the water
due to the risk of being swept away. Minor beach erosion is
also expected.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.

... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM EST this
afternoon...

* winds... south 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 to 50 mph.

* Timing... through late afternoon today.

* Impacts... strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power
lines. Scattered power outages are expected.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph or
gusts in excess of 45 mph are expected. Winds this strong can
make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use
extra caution.
