Winter Weather Advisory

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 am EST
Tuesday...

* what... a wintry mixture of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain
will persist over the region through the rest of the morning,
lasting into the afternoon. Additional snow and sleet
accumulations of a one half to one inch is possible, along with
a light glaze of freezing rain. Re-freezing tonight will create
very hazardous travel, especially in areas that have snow
cover.

* Where... portions of central North Carolina.

* When... until 9 am EST Tuesday.

* Additional details... dangerous travel conditions will linger
through Tuesday morning. Road and sidewalk ice may develop with
clearing skies late tonight, in addition to the residual snow
and ice on the ground and secondary roads.

* Temperatures will remain nearly steady in the 30s today, then
fall into the 20s tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery
roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

Flood Warning
Issued: 9:57 AM EST Dec. 10, 2018 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* Flood Warning for the Neuse River at Smithfield.
* Until Wednesday evening, or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 9:15 am Monday the stage was 14.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river is expected to rise above flood stage by late
this morning and continue to rise to near 16.4 feet by tomorrow
morning.The river will fall below flood stage by Wednesday morning.
* Impact... at 15.0 feet, flooding begins along the Neuse riverwalk.
Water nears the base of the Holding Tank at the water treatment
plant.
