Special Statement
Issued: 6:13 AM EDT Sep. 22, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Patchy dense fog...

Patchy dense fog was being observed just east of the Blue Ridge
this morning. The visibility at the Airport in Lynchburg, VA
was around a quarter mile. Lowland areas from Lynchburg to Rocky
Mount, and into the North Carolina foothills from Mount Airy to
Wilkesboro will favor the lowest visibility this morning. In
addition, parts of the New River valley from Radford into the
mountain valleys of North Carolina, will also experience patchy
fog. Visibility should quickly improve as the fog lifts mid-
morning.

For your safety, if traveling in these areas, please slow down
and use your low beam headlights. Allow extra time for travel and
leave plenty of stopping distance between you and the vehicle in
front of you.
