Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 2:56 PM MST Jan. 18, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect from 5 PM this evening
until 11 am MST Friday...

* what... rain, freezing rain, and snow this evening becoming all
snow overnight tonight. Plan on slippery Road conditions. Total
snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches in the valleys, with 3 to 9
inches in the mountains, are expected. Any ice
accumulations are expected to be no more than a minor glaze.

* Where... portions of central, southwest and west central Montana.
This advisory does not include Great Falls and Lewistown.

* When... until 11 am MST Friday.

* Additional details... be prepared for reduced visibilities at
times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered
roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

Clark... north central Broadwater... northwestern
Meagher... northwestern Judith Basin... northern
Jefferson... southwestern Chouteau and central Cascade counties...

At 613 PM MST, a band of rain was located along a line extending
from near belt to 9 miles south of Philipsburg. Movement was
southeast at 5 mph. This band of rain was ahead of an advancing cold
front which will drop temperatures below freezing, possibly leading
to wet roads freezing over the next several hours.

Locations impacted include...
Helena, Cascade, East Helena, belt, Wolf Creek, York, Rimini,
Monarch, Spring Meadow lake State Park, Sluice Boxes State Park,
Eden, Austin, Stockett, Tracy, Centerville, Marysville, Tower Rock
State Park, Craig, Armington and Canyon Creek.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 15 between mile markers 190 and 255.
Highway 200 between mile markers 0 and 7, and between mile markers
75 and 80.
Highway 12 between mile markers 28 and 53.
Highway 287 between mile markers 1 and 8 .
Highway 89 between mile markers 49 and 71, and between mile markers
72 and 86.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the area. Please monitor

Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be
prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra
