The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of southeast Kansas and
southwest Missouri, including the following areas, in
southeast Kansas, Cherokee. In southwest Missouri, Barry,
Christian, Greene, Jasper, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, stone,
and Taney.

* Through Wednesday afternoon.

* Several rounds of thunderstorms are expected across southwestern
Missouri through Wednesday afternoon. Additional heavy rain
falling on already saturated soils will lead to a flood and
flash flood risk across this area.

* Rapid rises along creeks, streams, and low water crossings can
be expected overnight into Wednesday where heavy rain falls.
Flooding of roadways is especially dangerous at night, when it
is impossible to judge to depth of water.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
