Watches & Warnings

Special Statement
Issued: 3:37 PM EDT Oct. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Gusty winds and dry weather raise fire weather concerns
tomorrow...

The lack of precipitation this month has led to very dry
conditions in Maine's forests this fall. Winds will gust 15 to 25
mph from the northwest behind a surface cold front. In addition,
humidity will be lowering through the afternoon hours as a dry
airmass moves into the state. All of these factors will increase
the potential for any fires that do start to spread quickly and
become difficult to contain tomorrow.

Maine Forest service advise against any open burning tomorrow due
to these conditions. Numerous wildfires have started across the
state over the last few days and those who are working or
recreating outside should be fire aware tomorrow.
