... Heat advisory in effect from 11 am this morning to 7 PM CDT
this evening...

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a heat
advisory, which is in effect from 11 am this morning to 7 PM CDT
this evening.

This heat advisory includes parts of southeast Missouri, southern
Illinois and extreme western Kentucky to the southwest of a
Marble Hill Missouri to Benton Kentucky line.

* Temperature... high temperatures will be in the middle 90s. The
heat index will peak between 104 and 108 degrees in the
afternoon.

* Impacts... persons working outdoors or engaging in recreational
activities will encounter hazardous levels of heat and
humidity.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned
room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and
neighbors.
