Watches & Warnings

Special Statement
Issued: 3:48 PM CST Nov. 17, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Rain and snow changing to snow this evening...

The rain and snow that has occurred across the area during the
afternoon hours will gradually change over to all snow from
northwest to southeast early this evening. Temperatures are
expected to drop slowly back to or just below the freezing mark
this evening so any snow that does fall will begin to accumulate.
Present indications suggest accumulations of around 1 inch are
expected north of a Springfield to Champaign line.

Roads and sidewalks, especially elevated surfaces, could become
slippery as snow sticks to the surfaces. Motorists traveling
across parts of west central and central Illinois this evening
should be alert for rapidly changing conditions. Bridge decks and
overpasses will be the first to become slippery this evening,
followed by secondary roadways.
