High Surf Advisory
Issued: 3:22 PM HST Jan. 22, 2018 – National Weather Service

... High surf advisory remains in effect until 6 PM HST Tuesday...

* surf... along east facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui,
and The Big Island, 6 to 10 feet, highest east. Along north
facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai and Maui, 12 to 16 feet.

* Timing... through Tuesday for east facing shores. For north
facing shores, surf will hold at advisory levels tonight into
Tuesday for north facing shores, then trend down into midweek.

* Impacts... moderate... expect strong breaking waves, shore
break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming
difficult and dangerous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Always heed advice given by ocean safety officials and know your
limits. When in doubt, do not go out.
