Freeze Watch, Wind Chill Advisory

... Freeze watch in effect from late tonight through Thursday
morning...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a freeze
watch, which is in effect from late tonight through Thursday
morning.

* Temperature... overnight low temperatures are expected to drop to
near freezing for 1 to 3 hours around sunrise Thursday.


* Impacts... temperatures at or below freezing can kill sensitive
vegetation and may freeze exposed water pipes. Portable plants
may need to be brought indoors to a warmer location, or
considering covering sensitive vegetation as needed. Small
animals should be adequately cared for, or brought indoors if
needed.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A freeze watch means sub-freezing temperatures are possible.
These conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.

Also... many home fires occur during cold weather episodes. Use
extreme caution with space heaters... keeping the heater away from
all material that may be combustible... such as pillows... blankets
and curtains.

... Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 1 am to 10 am EST
Thursday...

* what... very cold wind chills are expected due to a combination
of cold temperatures and northwest winds remaining at or a
little above 10 mph. Expect wind chills to drop into the lower
30s around or shortly after midnight, and reach values in the
middle 20s to around 30 degrees by sunrise Thursday.

* Where... Brevard, Osceola, Indian River and Okeechobee counties.

* When... 1 am to 10 am Thursday.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will
combine to create low wind chills. Make sure you dress
appropriately for the cold weather, including a coat, a hat and
gloves.
