Issued: 3:20 PM CST Dec. 13, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST this
evening...

* event... gusty winds will continue into the early evening hours.

* Areas affected... the strongest winds will be in eastern and
parts of central Arkansas.

* Timing... the highest winds will occur through around 6 PM.

* Winds... southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph will be common, with
higher gusts likely.

* Impacts... boaters on area lakes and rivers should use extra
caution due to the elevated winds. Also any other outdoor
activity that may be affected by the strong winds should use
extra caution.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.

... High fire danger will continue into the weekend...

With the dry conditions of late, low humidity, and increased
winds, fire danger remains high over the entire State of Arkansas.
As of Wednesday morning, 66 of the 75 counties of Arkansas have
burn bans in effect.

Fire danger will remain high, and is likely to get worse, as dry
conditions are expected until the weekend. Gusty southwest winds
and fairly low humidities are expected today.

Given this information, people are advised to use precautions with
any outdoor burning, and follow local County burn bans already in
place. If wild fires are observed, report them to the local Fire
Department or the Arkansas forestry commission at 1-800-468-8834.
