Special Statement
Issued: 5:11 AM AKDT Oct. 18, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Strong winds and heavy rain expected along the north Gulf
Coast and southern Cook Inlet through Sunday...

A powerful low will bring another round of heavy rain and strong
winds to the north Gulf Coast and Cook Inlet this afternoon into
Friday. The low is expected to move south of the Kenai Peninsula
which will increase northerly winds down Cook Inlet and into
Kachemak Bay. Storm force winds (50-60 knots) will also impact the
marine waters along the entire north Gulf Coast.

While rainfall accumulations will not be as heavy as the earlier
this week, already swollen local streams and rivers may see
increased rises again as periods of heavy rain impact the
coastline. This includes the Seward area where an additional
1-1.5" of rainfall is expected.

Immediately on the heels of this low is another low which is
expected to move into the north Gulf Coast Saturday afternoon
through Sunday. This will bring more substantial rain to the
coast with the possibility of 2-4" of rain, including into Seward.
